Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein currently headlines the news for allegedly running an extensive sex trafficking ring for decades. Listen to this podcast and learn its impact on St. Louis.

Trafficking is extremely common. Victims are typically poor and have a history of exploitation, substance or sexual abuse, learning disabilities and inadequate support systems. Approximately 40% of victims are African Americans.

The penalties for trafficking African Amercians are less severe when compared with the punishments imposed for trafficking other groups.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, African American children make up 52% of all juvenile prostitution arrests. The majority of them are trafficking victims.

At this point, we do not know why African Americans are trafficked more than other races. The speculation is that maybe traffickers have more access to this community.
