Bullying is an Epidemic

As a kid, I was bullied for a myriad of reasons. Often chased home by mean girls who were jealous about something, I became a strong, self confident person who is unwilling to accept disrespect or the malicious behavior of other people.

Things have changed since the 1960's. Every day we see the affects of bullying. Suicide rates are on the rise. School shootings are almost the norm and mental health imbalances have become mainstream.

Tons of organizations are available to help kids survive bullying. I applaud their efforts. However, I believe that bullying really starts at home. Children see their parents mistreat each other and they emulate that behavior at school. For me, bullying is a family problem, not just a kid issue.
