Nearly Half of Working Americans Earn Less than $32,000


The truth about the economy is that it is not booming for everyone. Nearly half of all working Americans earn less than $32,000 a year. According to the Social Security Administration, income inequality is real. About 13% of American workers earn less than $5,000. Approximately 48% take home $31,561. 

The federal poverty rate is based on a 4 person household. Poverty in the United States is estimated to be $25,100. Officials believe this is the bare minimum needed to purchase subsistence food, clothing and shelter.
