Why Sex Education Is Important

Quality sex education is important for making smart health choices. For adolescents to make good and safe decisions, it is imperative that they have reliable information.

When only 13 states require sex education to be medically accurate, a lot is left to interpret in teenage health literacy. Research published by the Public Library of Science shows that when sex education is comprehensive, students feel informed, make safer choices and have healthier outcomes.

In this Healthy You podcast episode, Ruth Ezell talks to Planned Parenthood's Director of Education for St. Louis and Southwest Missouri Michelle Linschoten about their outreach program and how the community benefits.
